Daihatsu Ayla 1.0L eco-car launched in Indonesia
The start of
the Indonesia international Motor Show saw the arrival of the Daihatsu Ayla
hatchback, as well as that of its Toyota sibling, the Agya. The two debutants are
set to go head to head against the Mitsubishi Mirage, which also made its
Indonesian debut at the show.
We’ll start
with the Ayla – the five-door hatch, the company says, has been designed to
meet the needs of car users in the country, working on the basis of being fuel
efficient, spacious and affordable. If the shape looks a bit familiar, that’s
because you’ve seen a mix of its lines on the Daihatsu A-Concept seen in
last year’s IIMS as well as the e:S Mira. The Ayla is based
on the e:S Mira.
There
weren’t any specifications mentioned in the overall show brochure beyond
stating that the little car – which measures in at 3,580 mm long, 1,600 mm wide
and 1,510 mm tall – punches above its weight, offering a comfortable and
spacious cabin, a minimum turning radius for easy maneouvreability in narrow
streets and a high ground clearance “best suited to the way in Indonesia.”
Nothing a
bit of digging around couldn’t solve. The Ayla is powered by a 997cc
three-cylinder mill, the D26F-1KR-DE. The 69 kg aluminium-block unit, which is
10 kg lighter than the 1.0 litre cast-iron block equivalent, offers 65 hp at
6,000 rpm and a rather low-ish 87 Nm of twist at 3,600 rpm. As for drivetrain
choices, it’s a five-speed manual and a four-speed auto for this little
five-seater.
Three
variants of the Ayla will go on sale in the Indonesian market, the entry-level
Type D, medium specification Type M and range-topping Type X.
When they
mean entry-level, they do mean entry-level – the Type D comes without air-conditioning
and an audio system, to give you an idea of how affordable means omitting some
of the mod-cons. It does mean however that the Ayla can be had for as low as Rp
75 million (RM24,100). Local content is claimed to be 84% for the car (and likewise,
the Agya). As for colours, there are six choices on call for the car, three
metallic and three solid.
The arrival
of the little car does throw some conjecture about, especially with regards to
Malaysia’s position as the perceived passenger car center for ASEAN.
For the
longest time, Toyota/Daihatsu Indonesia (or Astra Toyota/Daihatsu, if you will)
didn’t really sell passenger-style cars, working the beat with more
“commercial-based” offerings like the Avanza and Innova. Daihatsu didn’t bother
building the Sirion in Indonesia, instead importing Myvis from here and
slapping on Daihatsu badging on them.
But the
change is coming, and how – we first saw signs of this with the A-Concept, and now
production of Toyota/Daihatsu passenger cars is concentrated in Thailand and
Indonesia. The Japanese automaker has signalled its intent for Indonesia,
stating that it aims to launch more than four models in the next four years as
well as produce 300,000 units a year here.

Substantial development in this section is
precisely the application of Electronic Power Steering (EPS). EPS technology is
no longer wearing pumps and hydraulic oil. But the use of electric motors
attached to the steering gear or steering column to adjust the rotation torque
of the steering wheel. Application of EPS makes the latest round of Xenia

Car Covers – The Most Practical Way to Preserve Your Car
It
is known that the outdoors is not the safest place for your car. If it rains
then the acid eats at the car’s paint work. If it snows, it freezes over, and
the brakes get ruined. If it hails, the exterior gets scratched. If it’s sunny,
the UV rays fade the finish. If it’s windy, the car gets knocked and scratched.
Whatever the weather, you just don’t seem to win.
Practically,
it is usually not feasible to store your car in a garage. Aside from the huge
expense of building one, where do you have the space for one? So you need to
find another plan that will help you keep you car looking good, and healthy,
even through all the weather conditions.
What
you need is a Noah cover from Covercraft. You must of heard of Covercraft; it
is famous for providing the public with high quality car covers. Noah is a
special of their as it is an all-weather-cover.
The
Noah cover is three layered, made from bi-component fibres. Working from out to
in, first is a layer of polypropylene, that is soft, yet uv resistant. Next
comes a layer of micro-porous film that enables the cover to be breathable.
Last, is a tough nylon core, woven together with polypropylene. Together these
three layers make the cover completely weather proof.
As
stated, the cover is breathable. This gives the car a chance to sweat, without
it becoming steamed up and mouldy. The cover can also be put on whilst the car
is still damp, as air and moisture are allowed out through the material, and
away from the car. This does not in any way compromise on the high level of
waterproofing.
Having
three layers ensures that the cover is sturdy enough to cushion and shield the car
from any types of bashes it may get that will scratch and or dent the exterior.
It will also be more durable, and resist any rips and tears.
Noah
is compact and easy to use. When the cover is not in use, it can be folded up
nice and neatly, in the corner of the trunk, without being too bulky and space
consuming. This way, you can take it with you wherever you travel, and always
have the protection you need. There is elastic on the front and rear of the
cover so that it is easy for you to put on and take off. Noah can be hand
washed when it gets dirty, and will resist the growth of any mildew or rot, so
it can even be folded away whilst still damp. All of these make Noah a
practical, easy-to-use cover.
Noah
comes in the custom size, so it will fit your car like glove. The cover will be
nice and snug against the car, maximising the protection you give it.

Hybrid System
What
Is a Hybrid System ?
A
hybrid system combines different power sources to maximize each one's
strengths, while compensating for the others' shortcomings. A gasoline-electric
hybrid system, for example, combines an internal combustion engine's high-speed
power with the clean efficiency and low-speed torque of an electric motor that
never needs to be plugged in.
Are
All Hybrids Created Equal ?
There
are several ways in which electric motors and a gas/petrol engine can be
combined.
Toyota
perfected the series/parallel or "full" hybrid to deliver the
energy-saving benefit of a series hybrid together with the acceleration benefit
of a parallel hybrid. Two key technologies — the power split device and
sophisticated energy management — make this possible. They constantly optimize
the flows of mechanical power and electric power for safe and comfortable
vehicle operation at the highest possible efficiency.

Ferrari
Ferrari
(Ferrari S.p.A.) is an Italian sportscar manufacturer based in Maranello,
Italy. Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company
sponsored drivers and manufactured race cars before moving into production of
street-legal vehicles Ferrari SpA in 1947. Throughout its history, the company
stands by its continued participation in racing, especially Formula One, where
he was a great success.
Enzo
Ferrari never intended to produce road cars when he formed Scuderia Ferrari
(literally "Ferrari Stable") in 1928 as a sponsor for amateur drivers
headquartered in Modena. Ferrari prepared and successfully raced various
drivers in Alfa Romeo cars until 1938, when he was hired by Alfa Romeo to head
their racing department.
In
1941, Alfa Romeo was confiscated by the Fascist government of Benito Mussolini
as part of the Axis Powers 'war'. Enzo Ferrari's division was small enough to
be affected by this. Because he was prohibited by the contract runs for four
years, the Scuderia briefly became Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari, which
ostensibly produced machine tools and aircraft accessories. Also known as SEFAC
(Scuderia Ferrari Enzo Auto Racing), the Ferrari was really produce a racing
car, the Tipo 815, non-competition period. It 'was the first Ferrari car today
(debuted in 1940 Mille Miglia), but because of World War II saw little
competition.
In
1943 the Ferrari factory moved to Maranello, where it has remained ever since.
The factory was bombed the Allies in 1944 and renovated in 1946, after the war,
and there is the production of road cars. Until Il Commendatore's death, this
would be a bit 'over the source of funding for its racing activities.
The
first Ferrari road car was the 1947 125 S, powered by a 1.5 L V12 engine; Enzo
Ferrari reluctantly built and sold his automobiles to fund Scuderia Ferrari.
In
1988, Enzo Ferrari watched the launch of the Ferrari F40, the last new Ferrari
to be launched before his death later that year, and probably one of the most
famous supercars ever made. From 2002 - 2004, Ferrari introduced Enzo , the
fastest model at the time, in honor of its founder Enzo Ferrari. It was
restricted to the richest car enthusiasts , as each costs $ 1800000.
On
May 17, 2009 in Maranello, Italy, a 1957 250 Testa Rossa (TR) was auctioned by
RM Auctions and Sotheby, for $ 12.1 million - a world record at that time for
the most expensive car ever sold at auction. This record is held by a Bugatti
Atlantic that has sold more than $ 28 million.
